Course Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  • Describe the purpose and primary capabilities of each Claude mode
  • Identify the correct mode for a given task or workflow
  • Explain what Plugins, Connectors, and Skills are in Cowork mode
  • Describe what makes Code mode agentic and why that matters
  • Design a personal workflow that uses all three modes appropriately

After enrolling, students can complete lesson quizzes as they move through the course.

The course final assessment unlocks after all required lessons and lesson quizzes are complete.

Course Notes for Instructor Review

This course should be taught with the Claude desktop app open so students can see the three mode tabs directly. The biggest misconception to address early is that Code mode is only for software developers – many non-developer power users benefit from Code mode for file management, document work, and complex multi-step tasks. Cowork is the least understood of the three; spend extra time on the Plugins/Connectors/Skills distinction, which is what most students find confusing at first. Verify current plugin availability and connector options directly, as the plugin marketplace and connector library expand regularly.
