By the end of this course, students should be able to:

• Start a Claude conversation with a clear, useful first message
• Follow up on an unsatisfying response without starting over
• Ask Claude to explain things at the right level for their background
• Use Claude for at least five immediate, practical everyday tasks
• Identify the difference between a question Claude can answer well and one that requires verification

Course Notes for Instructor Review

This course is the entry point for students with zero prior AI experience. Language should be completely accessible – no assumed technical vocabulary. Examples should be relatable across a wide range of backgrounds. The iteration lesson is critical: most new users think one unsatisfying response means the tool doesn't work. Correcting this early dramatically improves retention and satisfaction. The everyday tasks lesson should feel immediately actionable – students should finish it and immediately want to try something.
