Claude Code Foundations – Agentic Development Workflow

Lesson 1: From Chat Answer to Agentic Work

Lesson Objectives

By the end of this lesson, students should be able to:

  • Describe the agentic loop without hype.
  • Identify what information Claude Code needs before editing.
  • Ask for a plan, evidence, and verification.

Lesson Content

Claude Code is useful because it can inspect a project, read files, edit files, run commands, and use the results to decide what to do next. That does not make it automatically correct. It makes it capable of doing real work when the student gives it real boundaries.

The basic loop is simple: gather context, take action, verify results, then adjust. A weak request says, "fix this." A professional request says what is broken, where the project lives, what files are in scope, what should not be changed, how success will be tested, and what evidence should be reported.
