A follow-up prompt tells ChatGPT what to change after you see the first answer. This is where much of the value appears: you guide the work closer to what a person needs.

Professional Use Case: ChatGPT summarizes a meeting too generally. The student asks it to separate decisions, open questions, owners, and risks.

Student task: Ask ChatGPT to summarize a short pretend meeting note. Copy the first answer into a text editor. Then send a follow-up prompt asking for decisions, open questions, and next actions. Student task help: Use pretend, public, or low-risk practice material. Copying the first AI answer into a text editor means pasting it into Notepad, Word, Google Docs, or another notes file so you can compare it with your revised answer. A clarification prompt is a short follow-up that tells the AI what to fix, add, remove, or explain. Example clarification prompt: "Make this easier for a beginner, add one concrete example, and show the next three steps as a checklist."

Starter scenario: "Summarize this pretend meeting note: We discussed launching a beginner AI course, need pricing ideas, Chris will review lesson samples, daBongo AI Trainer will check quiz import, and the signup email still needs testing."

Starter clarification prompt: "Rewrite the summary as three sections: Decisions, Open Questions, and Next Actions. Add an owner for each next action when the note provides one."

Troubleshooting: If ChatGPT invents owners, ask it to mark unknown owners as "not assigned." If it misses a risk, ask it to list what might block the work.

Quality Rubric:

• The first and revised outputs are saved.
• The follow-up prompt asks for specific changes.
• The final summary avoids invented facts.
